The Best of Balham

The London Town House is only a 10 minute walk away from the centre of Balham; and there are many restaurants, bars and shops that you wont want to miss out on while you're in the area. Especially in the hotter months, you'll be surprised you haven't heard more about them!

Brunch

Who doesn't love brunch? Having some delicious food and drink, sometimes outside in the sun, is a great way to spend your weekend mornings, and Balham certainly has it's fair share of fantastic brunch spots.

First on the list of brunch spots that you'll love is a bright, cosy cafe with outdoor seating on a pedestrianised street, called Milk. Milk has become extremely popular in the last few years and is definitely now a famous go to brunch spot in South West London. Coffee addicts won't be disappointed and everyone will be pleasantly surprised with their funky twist on classic breakfast meals (especially The Convict), with a lot of variety as well for vegetarians and vegans.

Megan's on the Hill (right) is also a highly talked about restaurant. Not only for (bottomless) brunch, but for all meal times, Megan's Mediterranean & Middle Eastern menu has certainly made an impression. Time Out said "If Instagram made restaurants, it would have made Megan's", and this could have not been said better.

Our third favourite brunch spot in Balham Is Brickwood. The Australian themed cafe also has outdoor seating and lovely little breakfast nibbles to go with your morning caffeine intake, such as the phenomenal hash nuggets and fresh pastries.

These spots top our list for brunching out in Balham, however we would also highly recommend Gail's, for the freshest breads and pastries, and Jefferson's Ice Cream. Jefferson's is a must go to in the summer time for their amazing ice creams and desserts, but also for their secret little beach club in the back, which is absolutely worth a visit.

Restaurants

If you're not a huge brunch fan and prefer the more scheduled lunch and dinner, Balham does not fall short with options for this either, with a great variety of special places.

One of the most popular locations for lunch or dinner in Balham is Haché. Mostly known for their fantastic burgers in brioche buns or artisan ciabatta, you certainly won't leave with an empty stomach! Let's not also forget the amazing sharing plates like Nachos or the Grilled Garlic Prawns.

Feeling like a curry? There is no better place to head to than the Indian Room, which serves fresh, authentic and delicious Indian Cuisine inside a cosy and atmospheric space. This restaurant has been voted the best Indian restaurant & takeaway in Balham since 2007!

The Cyclist is a modern gastropub, serving all UK favourites like Sunday Roasts, Fish & Chips and burgers. This stylish pub is also a lovely stop for some cocktails and nibbles for after dinner.

Just like the brunch spots, these are our three favourite restaurants, but we also need to give a special recommendation to The Exhibit, Megan's, Arlo's and Franco Manca; All of which are also fantastic places for romantic meals, family meals or dinner with friends.

Pubs and Bars

If you're looking to just go out for a few drinks in Balham, there is every type of bar or pub that you would want! The Bedford and The Regent are your typical British pubs, and the cyclist, as already mentioned, is a more modern gastropub with a great atmosphere.

The Exhibit is the bar which has a bit of everything. There's the bar with late night drinks and music at the weekends, a very comfortable cinema for pre bookings and a cosy marquee area which always has a theme depending on the time of the year.

Transport

Finally, transport. If you are looking to branch further out of Balham, Balham Underground Station is on the Northern line and takes roughly 20 minutes to get you to the centre of London. Balham also has an overground station which can quickly take you to Victoria Station, Clapham Junction and other central locations. There are several bus stops around Balham taking you to all areas of London and even the Santander Bikes.

From the London Town House, it takes about 15 minutes to walk to Balham Station. We hope you enjoyed reading about these special places in Balham. If you are interested in renting the London Town House near to all of these places for a Holiday rental or photo shoots, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
